Mother's Day & New Home

Hello, well Mother's Day comes early this year on 2nd March so I thought I'd do mine early!

Here's a little pressie idea, a plant pot decoration. So easy to do you could get your children to make it. I found an old plastic drinking straw and decorated it. First I cut out some flowers using the friendly felt . As I'm not too good at drawing I used some chipboard flowers to act as a stencil. For the leaves I used a template free from the net. To add a bit of decoration I threaded some ribbon through one of the buttons that I had from a big bag of buttons that you can get from the Crop til you Drop webshop. And what a bargain!! A bag of buttons for only £1!! To the "stalk" I added more ribbon and a "Happy Mother's Day" which I printed off from my computer.

My second piece is a Mother's Day card. I had to use the Vintage Sara Papers from Hot Off The Press again for this one. They are so right for this sort of card. So I covered the card blank in the papers, tearing a co-ordinationg piece to add to the right side and also some little corners. To the corners I added the little star shapes. In the middle I used two big blooms held together with a big brad. The "MUM" was made by sponging distress inks onto vellum letters.

My third piece is a "New Home"card. I used the American Crafts papers to cover the card, adding a strip of co-ordinating paper to the side. The little house was just right so that went into the centre and then I added some buttons for a bit of dimension. Finally the "New Home" was printed out on my computer and layered onto some card.

A Vintage Set

My turn again and today I'm showing you a vintage set comprising of a tag, a door hanger and an ATC.

For this tag I cut out the basic tag shape from some card and covered it with the lovely Sara's vintage papers from HOTP. The little piece at the bottom is black glimmer paper torn and decorated with a fabric sticker and some ribbon and the vintage looking button. The dog check fabric square in the middle is also a fabric sticker. I added some little corner pieces by cutting out triangles from some of the vintage papers. The little stars are also from HOTP.

The door hanger is along the same lines again I covered the hanger shape with the lovely Sara vintage papers. Everything is made by HOTP bar the little charm . To add a vintagey feel I sanded the white button and the brads. I tied the little grandfather clock charm to some ribbon and then added it to the hook.

And finally the ATC. Again covered in the Sara's vintage papers with some torn corners. The little tag is also in the vintage paper range. I added the little stop watch charm with some ribbon. Then to finish off I added "wish" which is another HOTP product.

If you would like to buy any of these products you can email Beverley at sales@croptilyoudrop.co.uk as they aren't showing on the web shop at the moment.

Challenge # 23

Hello folks! Hope everyone has had a fab Christmas and a great start to the new year! This here, is challenge # 23, a 8.5 x 11 LO sketch. I dont do this size scrapping much so it was a welcome change - hope you enjoy it! As always, feel free to flip, reverse or interpret it any way you will. It would work pretty well as an ATC or a card too maybe, would love to see what everyone comes up with.
Here is my interpretation of it, created using the Vintage Sarapapers available from the Crop Til You Drop webshop. I cut the title and the photo mat from Bo Bunny winter papers but thought they complemented the blues in the layout, and you cant tell they're wintery/christmassy papers!

So good luck folks - dont forget to email your entries into sales@croptilyoudrop.co.uk to be in with a chance of winning our monthly competition, judged by the design team! Leave a comment on this post so we'll know you have entered and we can pop over to the gallery here to have a look! And dont forget to check back daily to see more of what the DT have been creating!

My Little Car!

Can you believe that its only 6 days to Christmas?? I'm nowhere near ready and have to admit a faint feeling of panic is starting to kick-in!! So to take my mind off it and relax I scrapped a completely non-festive LO, and here it is!
For this LO I used American Crafts The Goods Best Man paper for the base, and it's a good quality, heavy cardstock so it's an makes an excellent base. I used a set of compasses to draw a part of a circle onto the back of the picture and cut round it, and then followed this on with straight lines running to the edges of the cardstock, I used purple glimmer paper from the Vintage Sarapapers range, to create the sections and American crafts ribbon (I love the American Crafts ribbons, it's all just scrummy!) running across the LO to complete the LO. I added a logo from my car onto an off-cut of American crafts Tulle paper and mounted it onto some off-cuts of the purple glimmer and inked the edges. Then to finish off I added a slide mount with a charm fixed with a brad that reads "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" and a little car charm fixed with a brad onto the top ribbon. The little car was yellow, but a permanent marker pen soon changed that! I added my journalling and as we like saying over on our forum Bob's your mother's brother!!
TOP TIP When using compasses to draw circles on photos I alway put a blob of blu-tack onto the back of the picture, the needle from the compass sticks in it and doesn't damage your precious pictures!

And lastly a quick make, I keep finding that as it get's nearer to Christmas I have forgotten yet another card, these take about 20-30 mins to make and I think they are quite effective. I have churned out loads of these this year as last minute makes and I love making them. For this card I used the BoBunny Flakes Shimmer paper which is gorgeous, I had to force myself to cut into it! Used scraps of the purple and blue glimmer papers from the Vintage Sarapapers range and tea-bag folded the little star, I stamped a greeting onto a small piece of English Paper Company Christmas Collection patterned paper, rounded the cormers and mounted it onto more glimmer paper. I added a Cosmo Cricket Buck Naked chipboard button which I painted silver using acrylic paint and while it was still a little wet a sprinkling of glitter, I tied a piece of purple organza through the button from the HOTP Icy Rainbow range and glued it into the middle of the star which was conveniently a perfect fit! I would like to say it was planned that way but it so wasn't!!!
Anyway, I shall be back Christmas Eve. In the meantime don't forget if you want anything from the shop contact Beverley , she will be more that happy to help and don't forget Charli's challenge (below) and send your entries in by email for our gallery!

Challenge # 21 - A stitch in time.....

Hi guys and welcome to this weeks challenge!!
Charli here - and my challenge to you this week is to use sewing on your projects!
Now in case you're like our Looby, and you're not keen on sewing - fear not!! The sewing or stitching could be real, doodled, rub on, or could be already on your paper as it is on the next LO I'll show you. First though, my really really stitched on LO, using the vintage sarapapers available from Bev at this email address - sales@croptilyoudrop.co.uk
I made my own flower petal template, cut round it a few times using different papers from the vintage sarapapers kit, then used a zig zag stitch to attach them to the page. I sewed a border around the page and made my own little tag with the quote on, also using papers from the kit, and a bit of stitching on too. I also added some tiny metal flower shaped embellies on the tag too. Added some button brads, and a naked chipboard button, painted pink and jazzed up with a little bit of ribbon.

Next LO - not a real bit of stitching in sight!! Used the English paper company collection of Christmas papers on this one, but just cut out the Christmas squares as my pic was not Christmas related!! Cut the title out of the same papers et voila!

So come on - have a go!! You could win yourself some fabulous goodies - email your entries to the above email address, and leave a comment here to let us know you have entered - then we can all have a peep!

Happy crafting to you folks!
